Aldeburgh Internship
During August 2013 I interned for Caroline Wiseman Modern & Contemporary gallery of which the Aldeburgh Beach LOOKOUT was an artist in residence project.
Implementing the residency programme meant that I was aid to the artists as well as the photographer for their events, helped edit the newsletters, updated the social media and assisted in running the gallery space. The other aspect of the internship was working for Caroline Wiseman as a research assistant for a project and learning all aspects of running a gallery with prestigious artists being represented. Caroline also encouraged me to develop my own practice during the residency. DOWNLOAD my reference from Caroline.

"The Aldeburgh Beach LOOKOUT is reinvented as a catalyst for the inspiration of artists of all kinds, and resdiencies can be for visual art, writing (in the Laurens Van der Post room), poetry, music, performance / theatre, thinking, including philosophy and theology. Since the beginning of 2011, shortly after Caroline Wiseman bought the Aldeburgh Beach LOOKOUT approximately 50 artists (of all descriptions) have had residencies and several visual artists including Peter Blake and Ryan Gander have made works of art inspired by the LOOKOUT.The majority of the visual artists chosen for residencies have national and in some cases international reputations. In addition there are annual residencies awarded in conjunction with Studio Voltaire, The Royal Academy Schools and University Campus Suffolk.
Because Aldeburgh Beach LOOKOUT is isolated, yet at the heart of cultural innovation, it is a magical and stimulating setting for artists to respond each in their own fascinating way. Each Weekly artists residency culminates in an exhibition of brand new work."

Aldeburgh ProjectI documented the experiences I was exposed to during my two weeks in Aldeburgh. The vastly changeable weather effected the colours and the expansive sea and sky engulfed the viewer's entire vision. The Casper David Friedrich complex was rife. A new body of work is in progress so re-visit this page for updates.

The work below acts as a reference point for where I am getting my colour swatches from. As this project develops I aim to communicate to the viewer the tonal variation I experienced during my two weeks in Suffolk.
